Waves crash against the end of the runway at Samburg Airport in Samburg, Shetland Islands, as severe weather due to Storm Ingunn affects flights and ferry crossings.

Another storm appears to be approaching, with hurricane force winds heading towards Norway about to hit the UK .

Storm Ingunn has hit the Faroe Islands, with wind speeds reaching an incredible 155mph.

A yellow wind warning has been issued in the UK as wind gusts were recorded by Landsverk weather station in the Faroe Islands .

Storm Ingunn has been named by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute as it hit northern Scotland.

Earlier today, a weather system caused wind gusts of 106mph to hit Aonach Moor in Scotland.

Norway is currently in the grip of a ferocious storm that has swept across the nation, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The tempest, which struck with unrelenting force, has tested the resilience of both the people and infrastructure of this Nordic nation.
