On November 29, 1970, a woman was found dead in Isdalen, near Bergen, Norway. Hotel records traced her under multiple names, and two suitcases left at Bergen's train station held wigs, foreign coins, and a coded note later partly deciphered; labels had been cut from her clothing. In 2017, an isotope analysis of her teeth suggested she may have spent her early childhood in southeastern Germany and moved west, possibly to northern France or the French-German border region, by adolescence. It narrowed a region, not a name.
