Norway will order 54 German-made Leopard 2 tanks in order to bolster its army.

The deal will allow Norway to order an additional 18 tanks at a later date, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced on Friday.

The Nordic nation shares a border with Russia and has previously stated its intention to further defend itself from any potential threats.
