Nineteen year-old Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz has won his first career Grand Slam, defeating Norway's Casper Ruud in four sets on Sunday to emerge victorious at the 2022 U.S. Open.
Alcaraz won by 3 sets to one, winning the final set 6-3.
In doing so, he becomes the youngest player ever to become world number one.
As well as picking up the trophy, the Spaniard received the winner's check for $2.6 million dollars.
Following his victory, he said winning the Grand Slam and becoming the world's top-ranked player was something he dreamed of since he was a kid.
