The news is real: On Friday morning, Oct. 9, 2026, the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, the South African human rights lawyer and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. Days earlier, Trump said he deserved the prize and that not receiving it "would be a great discredit to them." Pillay joked, "If you clap a little bit more, I may share this prize with Trump." Hours after the announcement, Trump reshared a Truth Social post saying the committee "shamed itself beyond repair" (Forbes). Norwegian press previously reported Trump called then-finance minister Jens Stoltenberg about the prize, and María Corina Machado sought to share her prize with him. The committee character is fictional and the dialogue is made up.
