The Kremlin said on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin's telephone conversation with Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre was constructive and substantive, after the call reportedly lasted around 90 minutes. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said it was too early to determine whether the discussion would influence a negotiation process expected in early November, while presidential foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov questioned the critical reaction from several European countries. Ushakov also reiterated Moscow's position that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy should travel to Moscow if he wants direct talks with Putin, repeating the Kremlin's disputed assertion that Zelenskyy lacks legitimacy. The comments come amid continuing diplomatic efforts over Russia's war in Ukraine and questions about Europe's role in any future peace negotiations.
