The world's largest sovereign wealth fund holds a stake in ACE Market-listed Northern Solar Holdings Bhd, whose shares have surged in recent days.

Data shows Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) holds 10 million Northern Solar shares, or 2.53 per cent.

Separately, Norway's Government Pension Fund Global (GPFG) is listed with 9.97 million shares, or 2.52 per cent.

NBIM is the investment management arm of Norges Bank, Norway's central bank, and manages the country's GPFG.

It is unclear whether the two entries represent the same or separate holdings.

Northern Solar's share price crossed RM1 for the first time on Wednesday, extending a blistering three-day run.

The firm is involved in the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of solar photovoltaic systems, renewable energy generation and operation and maintenance services.
