Norwegian diplomat Mona Juul, who is currently in South Africa to meet different stakeholders, says South Africa is an important player on the world stage.

She believes South Africa can contribute towards brokering peace between Russia and Ukraine, and also between Palestine and Israel.

Speaking to SABC international news editor Sophie Mokoena, Juul said the paralysis in the UN Security Council has led to the organ's failure to stop the wars in Ukraine and Gaza.
