The ICC has set the date of the 28th of October 2024 and 28th July 2025 as respective time limits for the filing of the documents by South Africa and Israel. Meanwhile, South Africa is an important player on the world stage.

This is a statement by a Norwegian diplomat Mona Juul who is currently in South Africa to meet different stakeholders.

Juul believes South Africa can contribute towards brokering peace between Russia and Ukraine and also between Palestine and Israel.

Speaking to SABC International News Editor Sophie Mokoena, Juul says the paralysis in the Security Council has let to the UN organ failure to stop the war in Ukraine and Gaza.
